Post Office Thomas Isaac Log Cabin, Named after one of its 19th century owners, this rustic structure was built circa 1780 by an early settler of Ellicott's Mills. The cabin was reconstructed on the present site in the late 20th Century Ellicott City Colored School. This one-room schoolhouse building was constructed in 1880 as the first public school for black children in Howard County. In use as a school until the early 1950's Historic Mt. Ida is the visitor center and office for the Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park Ellicott City Fire Station Historical Society Library Museum Ellicott City B&O Railroad Station Museum, A National Historic Landmark, the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad Station in Ellicott City is the oldest railroad station in the United States.
