Ghost Walk at Historic Savage Mill

Savage Mill is an indoor facility often busy with shopping enthusiasts. Discovering the Mill’s exciting past as well as its intriguing paranormal present is easily done amidst the hustle and bustle of a typically busy day. This tour meanders both in and outdoors ending at the Ram’s Head Tavern where weary customers and ghost tourists alike can replenish their energy level while hearing even more about the Mill from the Tavern’s friendly employees.

Mark your calendar to join us the first Wednesday of each month for an inspirational day of prayer and reflection. Come early for coffee and conversation with others. We begin at 10:00 a.m. with a morning presentation, followed by Mass in the chapel, a delicious lunch, and an afternoon presentation. There is also free time to walk the beautiful grounds, pray the labyrinth, or shop in the bookstore. Our day concludes at 3:00 p.m.

Then Maestro Love passes the baton to guest conductor Brian Stone and picks up his cello for Shostakovich’s virtuosic masterpiece. Finally Jason closes this celebratory concert with one of his favorite works, Brahms’ lyrical Third Symphony.

This will be Columbia Procantare’s 29th annual dramatic performance of Handel’s Messiah. The ensemble of soloists, includes soprano Amy van Roekel; mezzo soprano Mary Ann McCormick; tenor Charles Reid; baritone Lester Lynch; and organist Henry Lowe; accompanied by orchestra. A free pre-concert lecture will take place at 6:30 in the theater and a reception will follow the concert. The chorus’ mastery of Handel’s unique music, a quartet of world-class soloists, professional orchestra, and an accessible venue attract audience members from throughout the region.

The Midnight at 7 New Year’s Eve event includes walks through the animated light displays. Enjoy the toasty bonfire, music, party favors, face painting and more. Food is available for purchase from a variety of local vendors. The last admission into the course will be at 6:30 p.m. No need to keep the little ones up until midnight – the fireworks display is at 7 p.m. (weather permitting). The event will take place rain, snow or shine. $20 for an individual; $50 for a group of four and up, depending on group size; children under the age of 3 are free.
