August 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 2014

The APL Drama Club is excited to announce our next production, Twelve Angry Men, adapted by Sherman L. Sergel and based on the Emmy award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose.

A man has been murdered, his son is on trial for the crime, but is he guilty? Eleven angry jurors are convinced that the answer is yes - but one man has a doubt, and he is determined to get past their easy answers and arrive at the truth. This riveting drama shows the twists and turns of a seemingly open and shut case, and engagingly explores the universal, timeless, and human themes surrounding prejudice, integrity, and justice.

Twelve Angry Men will be performed in Parsons Auditorium at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab on the following dates:

  • Friday, August 8, 7:30pm
  • Saturday, August 9, 2:00pm
  • Saturday, August 9, 7:30pm
  • Sunday, August 10, 2:00pm
  • Friday, August 15, 7:30pm
  • Saturday, August 16, 7:30pm
  • Sunday, August 17, 2:00pm

All performances are free and open to all APL staff, family, and friends, but reservations are required for guaranteed seating. Free tickets can be reserved by emailing dramaclubtix@gmail.com and can be picked up on a will-call basis before the show.

For more information, please contact the club officers at drama@jhuapl.edu.

What do ShowTime Singers like to do almost as much as perform for the public? Why, eat, of course!
So here’s an opportunity to indulge in some great Italian food – and wine – and to benefit our favorite cause, as well. Monday, August 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tino’s Italian Bistro, 8775 Centre Park Drive, Columbia, has offered to donate 10 percent of every bill to the Linwood Center in our name. Carryout is included in the offer.

ShowTime Singers partners with Linwood throughout the year to support its services throughout the lifespan of individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities. See http://www.tinositalianbistro.com/ for directions. These meditations are the building blocks of a method taught by Buddha for eliminating unhappiness in our mind and increasing our capacity for love and compassion.  As we become familiar with these meditation our mind becomes stronger and experiences longer and longer periods of peace and happiness.  The meditations are organized in a sequence so that as we gain more understanding of the first one, it helps us to gain more understanding of the next one.  If we keep meditating on these and putting them into practice, eventually we can attain freedom from suffering and the lasting peace of a completely pure mind. See www.MeditationMD.org for more details or call 410-243-3837
